Soul of
the Tree is committed to utilising only Australian hardwoods,
reclaimed or recycled wherever possible or at least harvested under
controlled conditions and with sustainable forestry practices. We
do not utilise any imported timbers, let alone rainforest
timbers.

|
Redgum
Our flagship timber,
sourced from several riverland locations, is available in a range
of rich red tones and with varying degrees of gum pockets which,
when filled with clear or stained resin, add lots of “personality”
to any furniture piece. Additionally, fiddleback/flame effects will
make for spectacular looking items. Redgum slabs can be used to
great effect on table/cabinet/bench tops and Redgum burl, with its
deliciously chaotic grain patterns, lends itself to very special
coffee tables, mirrors or giftware pieces.

|
Jarrah
Jarrah displays deep
brown-red tones and a flowing grain structure. This Western
Australian timber will add to the warmth and luxury of any
application without strident overtones. Jarrah slabs can also be
used to great effect on table/cabinet/bench tops.

Blackwood
Blackwood is sourced mostly
from Tasmania. A range of colours from honey to chocolate brown
with an occasional reddish tint, random fiddleback patches and
great finish qualities lend themselves to any type of furniture
that will blend perfectly with most environments.

|
Victorian
Ash/Tasmanian Oak
It is sourced mostly from
Victoria and is blond/creamy coloured, with varying degrees of gum
vein that enables a range of different looks. Abundantly available
and economic in cost, it suitable for a broad range of furniture
pieces.

|

|
Messmate
A close relative to
Victorian Ash/Tasmanian Oak but with significantly more feature to
give a strong “country” look. Sourced from locations in Victoria
and Tasmania, it is at its best on table tops, but also in
cabinetry.

|

|
Sydney
Bluegum
Its pink or deep cream
tones and varying degrees of figure will give a light and modern
look, yet keeping it classy, and is especially suited to tables and
cabinets. This timber is sourced from locations near the NSW
coast.

|
Northern
Mahogany
Light, highly figured grain
lends itself to great slab table or desk tops. Our stock of
Mahogany originates from around Darwin, where trees planted after
cyclone Tracy had to be cut as part of a management
plan.

|

|
River
Coobah
River Coobah, with its
chocolate-brown tones or even two-toned pieces (brown-cream), lends
itself to fantastic mirror frames or smaller pieces like coffee
tables, etc.
